The best time to visit beautiful Pollenca, Mallorca is actually in the Autumn and Spring!

As the summer crowds thin, the temperature eases and the pace slows – you know that Autumn is on its way in Mallorca.

As the summer crowds disperse, the temperature cools, and Autumn arrives, we can let you in to a secret (as Villa owners in Pollensa since 2017), our favourite time of year to visit Pollenca, Mallorca is from September to the end of November. The weather is still pleasant, with highs of 27°C in September and 20°C in November. In this article, we'll share some of our favourite autumnal activities and events to help you make the most of your trip to Mallorca:

Hiking, Cycling and Golf

Get sporty during the crisp Autumn months. This a perfect time to practise your swing at Pollensa Golf Club beat your Cycling Personal Best (PB), or explore the beautiful scenery of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains. The weather is predictable, so you can be confident it's unlikely to rain halfway through your day of hiking, golf or cycling. It's also cool enough to enjoy them all comfortably.

Bird watching

Around Pollensa in particular, bird watching is fantastic. Black Vultures, Bee-eaters, Audouin's Gulls, Ospreys, Night Herons, Eleonora's Falcons, Scops Owls, Hoopoes and many more can all be observed in their beautiful natural habitat.

Markets

Enjoy the comfortable conditions when visiting some of the many local markets in and near Pollensa, which are still bustling, but with fewer tourists. Look at our blog on the best markets around Pollensa for a full listing of all times and places to visit.

Fiestas

November is a great month for fiestas in Mallorca and checking them out is a great way to get to know the island. Dijous Bo Inca, the agricultural, livestock and commercial fair, happens on the second Thursday of November. The traditional olive fair at Caimari, a quintessentially Mallorquin village in the foothills of the Tramuntana mountains, takes place over the third weekend of the month. Take a look at our blog on fiestas for a round-up of festivals local to the villa in Pollensa, and across the island.

Munching bunyols

Tiny deep-fried doughnuts were only sold during the Festival of the Virgin. Today they're available from autumn until spring. These delicious little hot mouthfuls of heaven are absolutely essential on an Autumnal day.

Wine Tasting near Pollensa

There is no shortage of vineyards to visit in Mallorca, as the Island boasts over 70 of them. Autumn is one of the best times of year to tour the bodegas, while the vines are still lush and vibrant green.

While away autumnal days with the very best of Mallorcan Music, Film and Food

Fill your autumn break with culture; look at these upcoming events in the city of Palma.

Mallorcan Music Festival – October / November, Palma

Festival Música Mallorca offers a series of classical music concerts in a number of spectacular venues across the city including the Palma Auditorium and the Palma Cathedral.

The Mallorca International Film Festival. For six days, the Mallorca International Film Festival showcases feature films, short films, documentaries, and music videos made in the Balearic Islands. The festival features networking events, screenings, panel discussions, and workshops, open to individuals from the film industry, as well as the general public interested in arts, film and culture.

Celebrate Tapas at TaPalma – November, Palma.

TaPalma is a celebration of contemporary and traditional tapas made in the city. Restaurants across the city offer specially created tapas for around €2, and every year a judging panel selects the best tapas and chefs in the city. The event features nine tapas routes including Santa Catalina, Paseo Maritimo, Central Palma, Blanquerna, Genova, Portixol, Palma Beach, Mercado de San Juan, and Marratxi.

But if the weather isn't so good for a day, imagine curling up on a sofa with a glass of red wine and a copy of The Lemon Grove, set in North Mallorca, by Helen Walsh (who also happens to think Autumn in Mallorca is the perfect weekend break.)
